Dental Implant Aftercare

Dental Implant Aftercare

  • Post-implant care

24-48 hours after the dental implant is completed, it is recommended to apply ice repeatedly. The key points of ice application are: apply ice on the outside of the cheek for 15-20 minutes and rest for 10 minutes.

Avoid hot springs, hot baths, swimming and strenuous exercise.

Try to eat foods that are soft and easy to chew. You should avoid eating foods that are too hot, spicy, and contain alcohol to reduce irritation to the wound.

Be sure to clean your teeth after three meals and before going to bed to reduce the occurrence of peri-implantitis.

If you are a patient during the wound healing period, you should reduce your smoking habit to reduce the chance of infection and help the wound recover.

During the Chinese New Year, it is easy to exceed the standard of sugar intake, and patients must also control their blood sugar well to avoid wound complications.

  • Implant care x diet

In the current era of big fish, meat and delicious food, no one can resist the temptation. If you are a patient who has just completed a dental implant surgery, it is recommended that you take 10 seconds to "stop, look, and think" before putting it in your mouth to confirm that it will not harm the prosthesis and the wound before inserting it.

Today I want to remind everyone "what foods should not be touched".

Large dishes: dipping sauces, spicy foods, chicken cartilage, ribs, fish bones and other hard and spicy foods, eat less delicate ones.

Hard-shelled and hard-shelled foods: melon seeds, peanuts, almonds, walnuts, almonds, dates, burdocks and other nuts and hard-shelled foods. If you are a patient who has just completed a dental implant surgery, all of these foods are taboo and should not be touched.

Foods that stick to your teeth: rice cakes, chewing gum, glutinous rice balls and other foods that are easy to stick to your dentures should be touched as little as possible.

In addition, you must know how to drink moderate amounts of drinks that are too hot or irritating.

  • Teeth cleaning reminder

After three meals + before going to bed, you must clean your mouth well, and use a light brushing method.

If the patient is within 72 hours, it is recommended to temporarily stop using toothpaste and use dental floss and rinse mouth with water to clean.

The brushing method for implant care is as follows:

First: Use a toothbrush at the junction of the dentures and the gums, using the brushing method, and brush lightly back and forth at least 10 times.

Next: use an interdental brush, lightly apply it to the surface of the teeth, and clean it before and after. In the same way, enter from the tongue side, apply it lightly to the surface of the teeth, and clean again, at least 5 times each time.

Finally: Use about 45CM of dental floss, and you can use the aid of a threader to clean under the bridge, at least 5 times each time.
